Our first camping trip

I promised myself when I got pregnant that my life wouldn’t stop because I had a kid. We’d still go on adventures and see the world. We’d still go camping, fishing and rodeo.

With 2020 and all its chaos, we didn’t get to rodeo so our summer was pretty open. I absolutely love camping. There is just something about being out in nature that is good for the soul. And Idaho is too beautiful to not get out and enjoy it!!

My maternity leave was coming to a quick end in late June so we decided to go camping before I was back at work. We’d exuded to go to Mackay because we could camp and fish on the reservoir.

I was timing a rodeo so I couldn’t go until that light but my parents and Krew left earlier in the day.

Our normal camp spot was taken. In fact, almost every spot was taken. Apparently everyone decide to camp in 2020. We needed up having to camp just below the dam and it turned out to be the perfect spot. I got there just after dark so it was almost bedtime. I ate a quick dinner and got everything ready for bedtime.

The next day we spent the morning sitting around the camp fire, drank our coffee and enjoyed some breakfast. We had 0 plans for the weekend other than to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Ryne and his family came up that afternoon so we took a walk around and decided to take the boat out for a bit. Remington had never been on the boat yet so we’re decided to just go cruise around on it. My mom stayed at the camper with Kannon and the rest of us headed up the hill.

Remington loved the boat! Krew, well he took a nap

This camping trip wasn’t very eventful and Krew wasn’t big enough to really do anything yet. But it’s fun to have the pictures of a few of his firsts.

That Sunday we took the boat out again for a bit to do a little fishing before we headed home. We only caught one fish so it wasn’t very productive but it sure was relaxing.

And of course we had to walk to the river below the dam to see all the water coming thru before we left.

I can’t wait to go back this year now that Krew is older.
