My Baby Turns 1

When they say time goes fast they aren’t kidding! Somehow I blinked and my baby turned 1! Its been the most fun year I’ve ever had.

Mother’s day was this last weekend and I made a post on Facebook to Krew saying that he’s taught me how to laugh at the simple things. Things like Gus jumping on the bed, or the ball rolling off the table. He’s taught me how to slow down and enjoy the moment. I never miss the chance to snuggle for nap time or read a book. The laundry, dishes, cleaning and phone can all wait. He’s taught me to love deeper that I ever knew possible. Its true, you don’t know true love until you have a child. Its a love that can never be explained. He’s also taught me how to be the mom I want to be. The mom that encourages him to try new things, learn new things. Play in the dirt, make a mess of your clothes. But also, be kind, loving and generous. Every day I learn more and more about who I want to be because of who Krew is. I thank the big man upstairs everyday for bringing Krew into my life.

Every first we’ve had over the last year has been celebrated big. I have tried to soak up each and every moment because I know these are moments I won’t get back.

Once he started crawling it was like a whole new baby was born. The messes have been never ending. I literally can’t take my eyes off of him for a second or he’s climbing drawers, pulling out towels from the drawer, eating dogfood, playing in the toilet. Just this morning he threw my glasses in the toilet after I closed the lid so he wouldn’t play in it. His personality really kicked it into high gear then as well. The terrible 2’s are going to be a real joy I can tell. He’s the best at throwing a fit. He really can be so sweet though. He gives his mom the best hugs and cuddles at night. He rolls over with his back to me and wraps his arms around my arm and hugs me so tight. I really thought Krew would be walking by his first birthday but once again, he proved to me that he will do things his own way when he wants to do them. He waited another 2 weeks before he started walking. By his first birthday he had 8 teeth but as of today he now has 12. Teething is brutal!

I absolutely love holidays so I tried really hard to make the most of them for Krew and I. From 4th of July outfits to crafts for Halloween and thanksgiving. We dressed up as a donkey for Halloween and visited the great grandparents since we were too little to trick or treat. Seeing the magic in Christmas through a Childs eyes is something you can’t explain until you actual get to see it. There’s nothing else like it. Even though Krew was only 9 months old, it was still fun to start all the traditions and bring Santa to life.

I’ve learned he loves the dirt, well out doors in general, water and the 4-wheeler. I have a feeling this summer is going to be a busy one. He’s learned to say I Love You, Thank you, JJ, Gussy, of course Mama and Ow. He can MOOO like a cow and throws a baseball like he means business. He loves his rocking rider pony and his bull.

He is still a Mama’s boy. When I pick him up from daycare he just wants me the rest of the night. He loves his cousins but tends to have a mean streak with them. Him and Remington will wrestle all night long and battle back and forth over who gets the last hit in. He’s determined to take every toy Kannon ever plays with. And Kannon better not even think about touching me. Krew is starting to give Kannon hugs and kisses now so maybe they’ll be friends after all.

He took survival swim lessons so if he is to ever fall into water he knows how to roll to his back and float. This was one of the most amazing things to watch him learn. It was such hard work for him and he did not enjoy it but I’m so glad we did it.

I could go on and on about how fun the last year has been. They learn so much during this time and that definitely is true for Krew. I feel like he’s a different kid every single day.

I’m so excited to see what year number 2 brings. Zoo trips, aquariums, camping and fishing. Roping and riding. It’s going to be a wild one for sure.
